OPPO F9 vs Huawei Nova 3i Specs Comparison
Two days back, OPPO launched the F9 in the Philippines. It's the upgrade of F7 with a new notch design and better features. Let's see how will it look against the Nova 3i, a very popular mid-ranger today.

In terms of specs, both are amazing looking phones for their respective price points. It could go either way depending on your personal preference.

Build/Design - Going to the build, the Nova 3i feels more premium due to its 2.5D curved glass (in front and at the back) and metal frame construction. The F9 is mostly made out of plastic. It has Gorilla Glass protection though.
Design-wise, the gradient color of OPPO with petal shaped pattern is obviously inspired by Huawei. For me, it is the flashier type of gradient. But, I won't be surprised if you will pick the simpler gradient design of Nova 3i.
Both phones has tiny bezels.
Display - The F9 has a brand new 6.3-inch FHD+ 19:5:9 waterdrop display with crazy 90.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Nova 3i also has a 6.3-inch FHD+ 19:5:9 display, but the screen-to-body ratio is smaller.
How did this happen? The notch of the F9 is smaller. However, it doesn't have a 3D face sensor for a more secured and accurate way of unlocking your phone. It doesn't have AR Qmoji features as well.
You can turn off the notch on the Nova 3i if you like.
Specs - Close match. On the CPU part, I will pick the slightly higher clocked Kirin 710 of Nova 3i over the Helio P60 of F9. On the GPU part, I will go with the Mali-G72 MP3 of F9 over the Mali-G51 MP4 of Nova 3i even if it has GPU Turbo tech.
The 6GB RAM is obviously larger than the 4GB RAM of the Nova 3i. But, the 128GB ROM of Nova 3i is 2x bigger than the 64GB of F9.
On the battery part, the difference are small. The Nova 3i has the smaller 3,340mAh battery while the F9 goes with the slightly bigger 3,500mAh juice.
But, only the F9 has fast charging. According to OPPO, it has the VOOC flash charge solution which can provide up to 2 hours talk time in just 5 minutes of charge.
Cameras - On the camera settings. The Nova 3i has four cameras. The OPPO F9 has 3. The back camera of the F9 is a bit more impressive on paper. It has a 16MP f/1.8 + 2MP f/2.4 sensor versus the 16MP f/2.2 + 2MP cameras of the 3i.
For selfies, the 3i has a 24MP + 2MP setup. On the other hand, the F9 has a single 25MP sensor.
The cameras of both phones are great so far. Both has pro mode as well. The Nova 3i has tons of modes to try. The Nova 3i has up to 30s long exposure too.
The AI of the Nova 3i works for both the back and front cameras. The F9 should perform better in lowlight due to its brighter f/1.8 sensor.
Other features - The Nova 3i has a 3D face unlock versus the regular face unlock by the F9. The Nova 3i could be the more secured type of face unlock. But, in our test, the face unlock of F9 is a bit faster.
Like what we stated above, the F9 has no 3D Qmoji feature.
The F9 has the faster type of WiFi though.
OPPO F9 advantages - Smaller notch, better GPU, larger RAM size, larger battery with VOOC flash charge, WiFi with 2.4GHz/5GHz
Huawei Nova 3i advantages - More premium build quality, larger 128GB storage, dual selfie camera, 3D face unlock, cheaper price tag
Our thoughts
Both phones are worth it!On paper we will say that you go for the F9 if you need a device which has slightly better gaming performance, 6GB RAM for multitasking, brighter point and shoot back cameras, and VOOC flash charge.
Pick the Nova 3i if you want a phone with the more premium looking build/design, larger 128GB storage, dual selfie camera, 3D face unlock, and cheaper price tag.
